A bit of HAPPY!
Here is a little bit of HAPPY for your September 1st. Who doesn't LOVE Linus & Lucy (The Charlie Brown theme) by Vince Giuraldi? And who doesn't love cute olderish folks dancing around....
And to those of you departing for Hogwarts on the Hogwart's Express today have a fun journey to school and a good term. I hear Snape is in a particularly bad mood this year, owing to the fact he had to wash his hair and that Hagrid has some new baby unicorns to show you. And remember, no magic in the corridors and if you see Trevor the toad, hold onto him for poor old Neville!
Regular blogging to resume next week, when summer is really, officially over.

Music Monday: on a Thursday, more Broadway
Before we get started I just have to say the cold, and I mean cold has literally sucked my will to think and function out of my body. I am not the happiest of campers right now. I'm blaming it all on Algore and his fleet of SUVs, since according to him, that's what got us into this mess in the first place. Big fat stupid JERK!
Here is more Broadway -- and yes, it's all obscure shows that you may or may not have heard of ... because even though I love The Sound of Music with every fiber of my being, you've all seen that a million times...
Magic to Do from the musical Pippin, which I admit I have never seen. I hear it's kind of dicey in spots, but the music is good, most of it anyway, for a 1970s musical. Someone, in the comments on youtube declared this song, "Attack of the JAZZ HANDS!" Right there I must love it.
From Barnum, which my parents actually saw on Broadway with Michael Crawford, but here we have Raul Esparza.. It's a musical about PT Barnum, as in the Circus man...it's very good!
From one of the cutest shows ever....How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, which recently was on Broadway with Matthew Brodrick. I bet you never knew that Ferris Buler would grow up and do good things:
And finally, two clips from Starlight Express. This played on Broadway in the mid-1980s. The thing about Starglight was that it never had a cast album made (a huge mistake in my opinion) and it was all on roller skates. Seriously roller skates. My sister and I went and saw it at Gammage once...it was beyond AMAZING! But more than that, it's about finding who you truly are, redemption and being the best you are. I love it...
A Light at the End of the Tunnel, kind of the big HALLELUJAH number at the end of the show.
And the end, when Rusty becomes the Starlight Express...I love this part!

Music Monday: A bit of Broadway
Since I am going to see WICKED this weekend...yes, I am very excited, if you must know...
This week's Music Monday is all about Broadway:
Murray Head sings One Night in Bangkok, which if you didn't know, is from the musical CHESS, which was written by Benny and Bjorn from ABBA. (I told you these Music Monday things would feature lots of ABBA -- in some way or another). This is the only song from a Broadway musical to spend time at #1 on the Pop charts. It also reminds me of 1984, 6th grade, listening to KZZP (104.7 FM, Your #1 HIT music station), sno-cone pink lipstick, big hair, shoulder pads, leg warmers, and my silver radio. Good times...
And then there is Elaine Page singing Don't Cry for me Argentina. Hello, Elaine Page, you are amazing!
And of course my favorite musical Into The Woods. In 2002, for my sister's birthday her husband Matt, took us into NYC to see the revival of Into the Woods on Broadway. If you were wondering I have my Playbill framed. This is a medley of the musical that was performed for the TONY awards in 1988. It was nominated for Best Musical that year. Les Mis won though. And yes, that is Phyicia Rashad (Clair Huxtable) playing The Witch. By the time the TONYs rolled around Bernadette Peters had left the show. When we saw the show, Vanessa Williams played The Witch. She was amazing too.
This probably won't be the last musical feature of our week. I'm sure it won't be...
